The coolest weekend of the year has come and gone, except it didn’t feel that cool. With temperatures soaring above 35 degrees Celsius, it was our hottest i4C weekend yet. But our tireless team of volunteers helped us make the weekend a success.
Chardonnay lovers traveled to Niagara to immerse themselves in the world of cool Chardonnays from around the globe. Over four events, the School of Cool, Flights of Chardonnay, Cool Chardonnay World Tour, and the Moveable Feast showcased the world’s coolest grape in different ways.
Flights of Chardonnay was held at the Niagara District Airport for the 4th year. Some guests even flew in for the event with i4C Sponsor iFlyToto. The winemakers poured their Chardonnays for 700 guests, while some of Niagara’s favourite chefs served up delicious bites.
The Cool Chardonnay World Tour was held for the first time this year at Niagara College Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, in partnership with the Canadian Food & Wine Institute. The two-hour tasting was held in the courtyard, while guests moved inside for dinner. We were able to transform the spaces into a Midsummer Night’s Dream fantasy with help from “fairies” from Niagara Ballet, hundreds of paper butterflies, and massive trees brought inside to give the space a foresty feel.
Thank you to all of those that attended the various events throughout the weekend. Thank you to our amazing volunteer team, we couldn’t have done it without you.
